Saturday at Johnston Woods
What a wonderful fall afternoon for a walk in the woods! The Johnston Woods trail is on the property of a Methodist church that allows public access to the trail only. There are two loops that form a figure eight with the trailhead (and porta-poti) in the middle.
The trail is well groomed, marked, shaded and soft under foot from all the pine needle duff. Although it is open to mountain bikes we didn't run into any.
In keeping with it being church property there are numerous inspirational messages taken from scripture along the way. These together with the quiet solitude and relatively easy terrain promote an almost retreat-like escape from the days worries.
